If you like fishing, Kielder Water is one of the biggest reservoirs in Western Europe and is well stocked. If not, the countryside and castles of Northumberland are indeed lovely in a Romantic way ie fairly windswept, cold and often damp. So, if you plan a visit, come in June/July!
